How do I begin a log or chart for the training progress of my dog?

I have a 3 (almost 4) month old teacup yorkie. We want to start training her and teaching her tricks. My dad said we should make a chart and track her training progress. I don't know where to begin though. Can you please give me an example of a good tracking-progress chart? Thank you very much.
Yeah really? I'm 12... if I want to make a chart, I will. Ugh.

why re-invent the wheel, LOL?

Sue Ailsby has an excellent program, WITH a chart, a BOOK, an on-line log where
U can journal, post pix, or embed a U-Tube video, AND a list for folks to join.
all of it is free!
the big advantage of Levels Training is that if U make a mistake in training,
leaving a hole in the dog;s understanding, U can find it immediately -
because Levels has PROOFING built right into the training process.
the dog never gets to practice a wrong answer - U find it, and fix it.

the book of Levels Training is on sue;s website (dragonflyllama.com) -
U can dowload it in pdf-form, or print it in hardcopy.

the on-line tracking log is at
<http://levels.honkersoftware.com/>

the Yahoo-Group is at
<http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/traininglevels/>
he join-this-group button is toward the bottom right.

U can find other people local to U, or who are doing the same activities (agility,
etc) at <http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/traininglevels/database>

it is a great system, since the dogs learn practically error-free and the folks in it
are all happily engaged with their dogs.
i began training my first dog (with a mentor) at 10-going-on-11 years old,
so do not let ANYbody tell U that U cannot train.
my good pup got a red ribbon the first year (entirely my fault - i scolded him for
sniffing on the long-down, and he got up to come to me when he heard his Name),
and a blue (which he deserved!) on the second.

cheers, and happy training,

I don't think you need a chart. That would stress you over her progress pace. Each dog takes its time. Just find a good trainer to consult and start teaching her one command at a time. When she is ready you will go on to the next one, you don't nedd a chart to know when she learned to sit.

Why do you guys insult others and say they give her crap or sth. when they just seem to have a different opinion from you? The girl asked a question, so she does want to hear people's opinions. I personally believe the chart will stress her instead of being a useful tool. What's wrong with having this opinion?

Wow, I have no idea why people are giving you crap, I think it is a cute idea.

Why not make a video journal instead? Once she has perfected a trick, take video and post it on youtube.

Or you could just make an excel spread sheet with a list of the tricks you want to teach her down the side. Then you can put an x in the column next to it when she learns that trick.

Have fun with your pup!
