Is there a faster way to train my puppy?

I just recently got a lab/mix. She is 5 months old and I am trying to potty train her. I have never potty trained a puppy before and I work all day so I am trying to crate train her but I don't know if it is working. I am trying not to lose my focus, but I heard it could take 2 months is that true?

If you are gone all day, you have to be very diligent about teaching bathroom habits. When you take hers out of the crate, immediately go outside and stay until she goes pee. After you feed her, take her outside immediately, so he can go poop - dogs usually go within 10 minutes of eating - at least all of mine do. Before you go to sleep, you have to take her outside again, and as soon as you wake up. I would take my puppy outside about every 2 hours, or after she drinks or eats.

It depends on the dog, how long it takes to potty train them... I have a doggie door in my house and it has always taken a day to teach them to go outside. But then I have seen it take weeks.

It could take longer then two months

Shes a baby. Not a machine. You dont program her. Training is long and consistent work. My dog is 2 and I still have occasional problems with him peeing in the house.

it absolutely could take 2 months. You have a puppy, time is what she needs most....with you. Leaving a puppy in a crate all day is not a good idea of training.

It could be true. Training takes a while, you just have to be consistent and patient. The problem with many dog owners today is that their impatient and expect their dog to be fully trained after one session. And if it doesn't go their way they dump the poor thing at the shelter. It doesn't work that way. Keep at it and don't give up on your dog. Trust me you will regret it if you give up.

I've never had a dog who was that old and not housetrained yet... just go the crate training route and she should learn quickly. Good news is, at that age she can hold her bladder for much longer than an 8-week-old puppy so she will learn faster.

The key to housetraining success is being able to predict when your puppy needs to go, getting him outside in time, and then rewarding him for doing the right thing in the right place. This site may help you to make the task much easier.

That seems to be true.

Make life with your dog more enjoyable, training is the best gift you can ever give your pup.

The key to rock-solid housetraining is to start the day your pup comes home and stick with the program. Using a crate is the easiest method.
