Puppy not ringing bell loud enough with bell training?

My puppy understands the concept of ringing the bell when she has to go outside; however, she's only barely touching the jingle bells with her nose and we can't hear it, even when we're a few feet away. We don't want to confuse her any more (this is a HUGE breakthrough...) And ideas?

Try larger bells. Those large bells ring loud even with a slight tap. I used small ones, but my dog was obsessed with the jingle. I heard them every time. The larger ones are loud by themselves.

Get different bells. She has the concept down, its not her fault the bells are not loud enough.

I'd say either add a few more bells on so the chime is louder, or get a bigger bell. She's doing such a good job at the moment, as you said, I wouldnt confuse her! Good luck with it - such an exciting thing! I'm bell training mine at the moment... :)

keep praising her when she rings the bells and of course take her out. When she rings a bit louder than usual give her extra praise. Praise her less when she rings softly. After awhile she'll get the idea, but it might take some time....
