Shy Dog turned aggressive, I dont know what to do! ?

Me and My boyfriend adopted a dog last June and when we got her she was covered in fleas had 2 different types of worms and not to mention the medical questions was (and still is sometimes) scared to death of just about everything. Soccer balls, tarps, other dogs, and even though she is a lab/hound mix she is afraid of water she can’t stand in and the waves at the lake. Basically you name it, she is scared of it. She almost got to the point of us giving her away or taking her to the pound but we just gave her more attention than ever and she is getting better. BUT now she is aggressive towards other people. She growls at my grandmother and started passing back and forth in front of her. She growled and barked at my neighbors when they got the mail, a family friend, the groomer. I am afraid it will only be a matter of time before she bites someone. We have a pool and the people I live with are not comfortable with her because there are going to be different people here all summer. I don’t want to get rid o
