i would agree with the prior poster -
WAIT at least 5-mins minimum; no play, walking, etc; stand STILL, the pup walks around U.
think of a post, LOL - until the Pup produces, U are dead boring, dull, just there... ;--)
however... >> If << the Pup DOES produce urine or stool while out to potty, PARTY!!! :---))
warm, fulsome, sincere praise should pour over the Pup like warm molasses, and a TREAT
should be under Pups nose just as soon as that butt lifts from a squat, LOL...
carry the treat out WITH * U, even at 3-AM.
U cannot make it clear to the Pup what we are rewarding, If we are WAITING to reward the dog
after the dog returns indoors - we are not rewarding going into the AC or winter-heat, LOL,
we are rewarding Pottying In The Yard, at the time the opp is offered.
if after 10-minutes Pup has still not produced urine or stool, take the puppy back to the house,
CARRY the puppy * into * the house and to her / his crate, and put Pup in the crate.
wait at least 5-mins, preferably 10-mins, and repeat: carry Pup out, set down, wait; Nothing?
carry Pup in, crate, wait indoors,... Lather, rinse, repeat ad infinitum, LOL.
remember to set the ALARM for 3-AM if the Pup is under 15 to 16-WO, every night;
take up water around 7-pm, and take Pup out ON-leash as late as possible before bed.
all potty-trips must be on-leash; otherwise U have no idea If, or What, or How Much? the pup voided.
it is absolutely imperative that U know when Pup went last, + what was the product.
this is why Free-Feeding is a bad idea - meals that are any-old-time produce any-old-time stools,
too, LOL. ;--)
cheers, and happy training! :-)
